Delivering energy efficiency and sustainability for private student rentals

Rising energy costs could have a significant fiscal and mental impact on students. We have a responsibility to take action to ensure that tenants stay warm and healthy in their homes.

Our mission is to:

  • Educate tenants on how to keep the bills low in their properties

  • Deliver realistic beneficial change

  • Keep both our tenants and properties healthy and comfortable places to live

  • Promote sustainable living and provide skills to take forward in life living away from home

An extra responsibility for those under our care.

m0ve was set up by MCR & LIV Move as an initiative to help our core tenants, who are predominantly students. We wouldn’t have been able to succeed as a business without their trust and willingness to rent with us. As we face some difficult and uncertain times ahead, we recognise students are uniquely placed to possibly feel the worst of what is to come. We feel we have a responsibility to help ensure they weather the storm so that they can focus on the main reason they are living in our properties; being a student.

A different letting agent

MCR Move started in 2015 with the aim of providing a high standard of student accommodation coupled with a high level of service. We wanted to ensure that our tenants’ growing expectations were met in their first experiences of having their own home.

Our growth from a new company in a crowded market to one of the largest private student rental providers in South Manchester reflects not losing sight of those founding principles. We expanded to Liverpool in 2021 to start providing the same levels of service.

We owe our success to the students who choose to rent with us and see m0ve as a natural response to current events and our sustainability aims as a company.

Not sitting idly by

Students are on a fixed income in a time of rising inflation and energy costs. They also do not have the option of claiming any benefits or hardship funds beyond what their parents/guardians and universities can offer. They don’t even count towards fuel poverty statistics let alone being able to access funds directed to that growing class of households.

Our tenants stay with us for at least 12 months, so we need to plan for what is going to happen over that entire year. The squeeze on their finances is only going to get tighter so we need to take action to prepare and then guide them through a period of change not seen for a generation.

Get in touch.

We’re not planning an external mailing list - we’re too busy trying to deliver for our tenants to blow any more trumpets than what we keep updated on the What We’re Doing page. However, if you want to ask any questions feel free to send us a message below.
